Skip the Wait: Try Your Luck with Our Lucky Day Collection

If you searched the SCLENDS catalog and found that all copies of the new book you’ve been waiting for are checked out, come into one of our branches, because today may be your lucky day!

Each Beaufort County Library branch, including Bookmobiles, has a lease plan through the book vendor, Brodart. The lease plans allow BCL to obtain multiple copies of popular books to meet patron demand. After a year, BCL has the option to retain the copies and add them to our permanent collection or return them to Brodart. The lease plans ensure that our patrons have access to popular titles at the height of their popularity and help keep the collection current.

The Lucky Day Collection is a specialized library program offered by Brodart, supported by the Beaufort, Bluffton, and Hilton Head Friends of the Library groups. This program is designed to provide immediate access to popular, high-demand, or high-interest books without long waitlists.  It offers patrons the chance to find a popular book, even if they are far down the waiting list for a standard copy.  Lucky Day titles are intended to have a quick turnaround time, with no holds or renewals, and 14 days for patrons to enjoy their chosen title.

Lucky Day books are not listed in the SCLENDS catalog, so come into one (or all) of the branches to check the Lucky Day display for your next favorite book. Look for an eye-catching Lucky Day Collection display or group of books with a white slip with a green four-leaf clover at the bottom of the book cover.
