Celebrate Beaufort : Sophisticated Cuisine from the South Carolina Lowcountry
Debbi Covington

Recommended By
Grace Cordial
It must be stated for the record that I cook to sustain life. But when something festive is required my go-to source is Debbi Covington’s Celebrate Beaufort: Sophisticated Cuisine from the South Carolina Lowcountry (2018). I’m particularly fond of her Black-Eyed Pea Caviar (p. 28) and Broccoli Salad with Berries (p. 27) – mix and refrigerate. Another favorite is her “Deep South Peach Cake” from Dining under the Carolina Moon (2004).

The Secret of Orange Blossom Cake
Rachel Linden

Julie Bascom
Facing an impossible deadline for a vintage recipe cookbook , online cooking star Jules Costa returns to her family's olive farm on the Italian coast. She plans to gather inspiration by cooking with her beloved Nonna but she quickly learns that the family recipes have magical powers with irreversible consequences. Italian scenery, food, secrets, humor and a touch of magic combine for a very enjoyable read!

With the Fire on High
Elizabeth Acevedo

I don't cook much, so I don't have a favorite cookbook to recommend. But, if you like to read fiction titles that feature cooking then you'll love With the Fire on High. It follows Emoni as she works to achieve her goal of becoming a chef after she graduates, despite any obstacles and tough decisions. It's a beautifully written story, and if you're a fan of audiobooks - the author narrates it!

The food lab: better home cooking through science
J. Kenji Lopez-Alt

Recommended By
Ryan Easterbrooks
If you could own only one cookbook, this is the one to get. It covers measurements, temperatures, techniques, and practical tips for nearly anything you’d cook at home. Kenji explains the science behind cooking in a clear, approachable way, making even complex concepts easy to understand. Whether you're a complete beginner or an experienced cook, this book gives you the knowledge and confidence to become a better home chef.
