Touch grass, play in the ocean, or climb the steps of a lighthouse! To fulfill the “for leisure” section of our motto, Beaufort County Library provides SC State Parks All Park Passport passes to cardholders to do all the above and more through Check Out SC.
The Check Out SC program, a partnership between the South Carolina State Library and SC Parks, Recreation and Tourism, annually provides Beaufort County Library with SC State Park Passes, which allow:
Unlimited entry to all South Carolina state parks for everyone in the pass holder's vehicle
Free admission to regularly scheduled historic home tours at Redcliffe, Rose Hill, and Hampton plantations (maximum four people per visit)
Free admission to the historic lighthouse at Hunting Island State Park (maximum four people per visit)
Free admission to the historic Atalaya castle at Huntington Beach State Park (maximum four people per visit)
With more than 90,000 acres of protected lands stretching from the Blue Ridge Mountains to the dunes of the Atlantic Ocean, South Carolina state parks protect some of the most inviting natural, cultural, and recreational destinations in the country. Beaufort County Library patrons can discover stunning forested mountains and towering waterfalls, blackwater rivers and scenic inland lakes, white sand beaches and ancient inland shores, treasured American historic sites and priceless cultural treasures.
Passes can be borrowed for up to 14 days with an active library card in good standing and are available on a first-come, first-served basis at each branch. Passes cannot be placed on hold, but if you’d like to ensure a pass is available, you may call ahead. Circulation staff can hold a pass for pickup for up to 30 minutes. Passes can also be borrowed or returned using curbside service at your branch, but they must be returned to the same branch where they were checked out.
Here are the limitations of the SC State Parks All Park Passport:
Passenger vehicles that seat 16 or more passengers are not eligible to use a Park Passport.
Park passports do not guarantee entry if the parks are full.
Admission to historic tours is subject to change and based on availability.
Plan your trip using the Park Finder and activities on the See & Do page of the SC State Parks website.
