Celebrate National Library Week with us April 18–25 as we explore this year’s theme, “Finding Your Joy.” Sponsored by the American Library Association, National Library Week is a time to recognize the vital role libraries play in our communities, including providing access to knowledge, fostering creativity, and bringing people together. First celebrated in 1958, this nationwide celebration highlights how libraries continue to evolve to meet community needs by offering not only books, but also digital resources, educational programs, and welcoming spaces for all. Whether your joy comes from discovering a new book, learning something new, or connecting with others, there’s something for everyone at the library.

 

Throughout the week, all of our library locations will host special programs designed to spark joy, curiosity, and celebrate the many ways libraries enrich our lives:

 

Beaufort Library

Channel your creativity with PowerPoint Party: Share Your Joy, drop in for Confetti Bookmark creations, and learn more about Hoopla at Hoopla Palooza

 

Beaufort District Collection

Go behind the scenes with Adventures in the Archives with Cassandra Knoppel, held at the Hilton Head Branch. Explore local history with Finding Your Joy in Local History Online*, held at the Beaufort Library.

 

Bluffton Branch

Meet and learn from local writers at Local Authors Panel & Workshop: Writing is My Joy!, bring the family to a fun-filled Bluey Party, and learn more about Hoopla at Hoopla Palooza.

 

Hilton Head Branch

Enjoy colorful Reading Rainbow Joy storytimes and unwind with an Adult Crafts: Intro to Watercolor* session.

 

Lobeco Branch

Get creative and hands-on at the Music Makers Family Event* and Mini Zen Garden Crafts*.

 

Port Royal Branch

Add some sparkle with Book Bedazzling* and create your own keepsakes at Button Making*.

 

St. Helena Branch

Relax and create during two separate Watercolor Basics* sessions offered for both kids and adults.
