Calling all Local Authors!

Do you write books? Have you published a book or are you working on one now? Beaufort County Library is looking for local authors to participate in our second annual local author festival:

Pen & Palmetto: Write Local. Read Local.

Saturday, January 23, 2027 | 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Pen & Palmetto gives local authors a chance to meet readers, connect with fellow authors, and sell their books. It's a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the wonderful and vast creativity of those in the Lowcountry! Authors writing for children, teens, or adults are welcome, and all genres are encouraged.

You do not have to be a published author to participate. If you're still working on your first book, we'd love to hear from you, too!

Want to participate?

Complete the Pen & Palmetto Author Sign-Up Form and submit it with your $20 non-refundable donation. The donation secures your spot, allows you to sell your books at the event, and (new this year!) includes a Pen & Palmetto T-shirt.

Authors who would like a boxed lunch can add one for an additional $15 non-refundable donation. Additional T-shirts and lunches are also available for a cost.

Cash or checks should be made payable to Beaufort County Library. Please submit your donation with your completed form.

Forms can be dropped off at any Beaufort County Library location or mailed to:

Space is limited, and spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The deadline to submit your form is November 30, 2026.

We hope you'll join us for a day of celebrating local authors and local reads!
