Library Account

What is SCLENDS?

SCLENDS is a partnership of libraries across the state that borrow books and DVDs from each other. We also share a catalog. SCLENDS stands for South Carolina Library Evergreen Network Delivery System.

How do I set up my SCLENDS (library) account?

Log in to the My Account portal of the catalog using your library card number and temporary password. Set a new password in the account preferences tab.

I forgot my SCLENDS password.

You can reset your password by clicking the Forgot Your Password? link on the login page. Or, call us — we’re happy to help.

How can I renew my library card?

Library cards are in need of renewal every two years. To renew, please call us.

Borrowing

Please see the arrows below, as books and eBooks are housed in different catalogs. Contact us if you would like help - we enjoy a good search!

  • I want to borrow a physical book or DVD

Search the catalog which lists items you can physically borrow. It does not contain our eBooks or digital offerings.

  • I want to borrow an eBook or eAudiobook

Search HooplaSee the eBooks & Digital Content section.

Placing a “hold,” or requesting items

Placing a hold either puts you on a waitlist or sends an item from a different SCLENDS library to your local branch for pickup. You will be notified when your requested item is available for pickup.

How many items can I borrow?

You may have up to 25 items on your account at any time (including borrowed materials and up to 10 holds). Accounts are limited to 5 new books and 10 DVDs at one time. Digital items are not included in the 25-item limit.

How long can I borrow items?

Most books are loaned for 3 weeks except new books and music (2 weeks) and DVDs (1 week). eBooks and digital content have different borrowing periods.

Can I see what I have currently checked out?

Your SCLENDS library account will show only physical items currently borrowed on your card. Content borrowed from Hoopla, or Flipster is available through those accounts.

Auto-Renewals

Most SCLENDS items can be renewed up to two times; however, an item cannot be renewed if another customer has placed it on hold. Eligible items will auto-renew with no action needed. You will be notified if an item auto-renews.

Overdue Fines

Fines are $.20/day per item ($7 maximum per item) and do not accrue on days the library is closed.
