WANTED: Presenters for Programs Related to Spain
The Friends of the Beaufort Library is co-hosting a trip to Spain next April with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) and the Santa Elena Foundation to visit the sites and also explore Beaufort’s Spanish roots based on the 1566 settlement on present-day Parris Island of Santa Elena by Pedro Menendez de Aviles. In addition to visiting all the major attractions in southern Spain, we will meet with the Count whose ancestor was that settler.
In concert with the trip, we would like to put on some related presentations and programs at our Libraries. If you or someone you know would be interested in teaching a class on any of the following topics, please let us know. The class ideas are: - conversational Spanish - history of Spain - history of the Spanish settlement at Santa Elena - review of Spanish authors and books - current culture and politics of Spain If other topics come to mind, please let us know. The trip will be April 14-22, 2018 - with stops in Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia, Granada, and Cordoba. Contact FriendsBeaufort@gmail.com if you would like to teach a class. And stay tuned for details.
