Coastline host Rick Forschner welcomes Beaufort County Library System Director, Ray McBride to the County Channel Studio.

This 69th episode updates the public on policies that have been put in place since Beaufort County Libraries have re-opened since closing for the Coronavirus (COVID-19). In observance of the Independence Day holiday, all Beaufort County Library locations will be closed Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4. Operations will resume on Monday, July 6.

Due to the significant increase in COVID-19 cases in Beaufort County, and in consideration of the health and safety of our staff and customers, the Library system will postpone the start of the following services until further notice:

- Public internet computer service in branch libraries

- Bookmobile service

Library Administration, in consultation with the Library Board of Trustees and Beaufort County Administration, will constantly monitor the situation and recommend expanding library services at the appropriate time.

All library branches will continue to operate with their revised hours (each opening at normal time but closing at 4:00pm daily to ensure proper cleaning...

Our library branches to reopen on Monday, June 15

The Beaufort County Library system is pleased to announce that its branches will reopen to the public with new protocols starting Monday, June 15.

In the interest of preventing the spread of COVID-19 and protecting County employees and the public, library administration has announced several temporary changes to operations that are in line with the public health guidelines put forth by DHEC and the CDC. Effective June 15 - Curbside service will be offered during branch operating hours. 

Now Available! Pick up books and DVDs with our contact-free service. 

Available Pick-Up Times: Monday - Friday from 12:00pm - 4:00pm

1. Call your local branch library to request items or confirm that your existing hold is available.

2. Pull up to our designated pick-up area and call us again.

3. Pop your trunk!

4. We will deliver items to the trunk of your car.

- Orders must be placed in advance by calling the library.

- Holds cannot be placed in the online catalog at this time.

You may have received a notice that your hold(s) are ready for pick-up. While our library locations are closed, holds remain suspended and are not available for pickup. Please disregard the message you received. Your hold should be there when our libraries are able to offer a pick-up service.

Library Book Drops Have Reopened

Friday, April 17 - Book drops at all five Beaufort County branch libraries are now open. Residents are welcome to return their borrowed materials at any time. Please note that a cardholder’s account will not reflect the returned items for approximately two weeks from the date of the return.

Residents may keep their borrowed materials if they choose. Due dates continue to be extended on all items and fines will not accrue while the libraries are closed.

All Beaufort County Library branches and bookmobiles remain closed to the public.

Enjoy home-access to Ancestry.com Library Edition

In response to the COVID-19 closures, access to Ancestry Library Edition has been temporarily expanded to Beaufort County Library cardholders working remotely, courtesy of ProQuest and its partner Ancestry.
 

This home access will be available until the end of April and will be re-evaluated monthly as needed.

How to Access
Access to Ancestry.com Library Edition requires a password. To receive the special password, visit our Contact Us page to request the password. Please be sure to include your 13-digit library card number. Customers can then access by visiting the library's Ancestry.com page.
