In response to the COVID-19 closures, access to Ancestry Library Edition has been temporarily expanded to Beaufort County Library cardholders working remotely, courtesy of ProQuest and its partner Ancestry.
This home access will be available until the end of April and will be re-evaluated monthly as needed.

Library System To Offer Temporary Library Cards to All Beaufort County Residents During COVID-19 Closures

In response to the COVID-19 closures, the Beaufort County Library system is offering all Beaufort County residents the opportunity to receive a 30-day temporary library card so that they can enjoy all of the digital resources available through the library system, such as downloadable audiobooks, eBooks, music, and popular digital magazines through services such as Hoopla Digital, the cloudLibrary, and Flipster.

Good news! To help our customers enjoy as much content as possible during our temporary closure, we are happy to announce that we are temporarily increasing the amount of Hoopla borrows from 6 borrows per month to 8 per month. This change is now in effect.
Remember, there are no wait lists in Hoopla - so if you see something you like, you can borrow it instantly with no waiting.

Friday, March 13:In accordance with the current health emergency, the Beaufort County Library system will suspend all bookmobile service and library outreach activities for two weeks starting Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27.
The two week suspension may be extended for additional weeks if deemed necessary.
Bookmobile patrons will not be charged fines during this time frame.
We value providing bookmobile and outreach services to the community. Please stay tuned to the website for updates as to when these services will resume.
At this time all other library services will operate as normal.

The Beaufort County School District and the Beaufort County Library system, in a continuation of their dynamic partnership, announce the Gift of Reading program, a new initiative that aims to provide Beaufort County’s youngest students with new and enjoyable books to kick-start their home library.
The new program was initiated thanks to the generosity of a local couple seeking to provide books that Beaufort County’s children can keep at home and that will, ultimately, help to develop a child’s lifelong love of reading.

All library branches will be closed Monday, December 23, Tuesday, December 24, and Wednesday, December 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday. All branches will resume regular hours on Thursday, December 26.

The Beaufort County Library system is fortunate to have not one, not two, but three Friends of the Library groups and the Public Library Foundation of Beaufort County.
The Friends and the Foundation are all-volunteer groups dedicated to supporting the work and supplementing the resources of the Library system.
The Friends and the Foundation have generously supported library programs such as the summer reading program (Summer @ Your Library), a new Bookmobile, staff scholarships, book collections, online resources, library programs, storytimes, and so much more.
