Beaufort County Children Receive Books Thanks to Grant

The Beaufort County Library System is proud to announce that it is a recipient of a 2019 Read to Succeed Summer Camps Book Award grant. Read to Succeed legislation was created in 2015 to address the literacy needs of South Carolina students, and the summer camps provide an intervention system for students who may be struggling to read at grade level. The book award helps to put more books in the hands of reluctant readers by providing curated collections of high interest paperbacks to the selected applicants. Library Announces Staff Scholarships

The Beaufort County Library System is proud to announce a total award of $42,000 in staff scholarships. The scholarships are the result of a collaboration between The Public Library Foundation, The Friends of the Hilton Head Library and the Friends of the Beaufort Library. Each organization has contributed $14,000 to support one library staff member who is actively enrolled in obtaining their Master’s Degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS) at the University of South Carolina.
