Enjoy home-access to Library Edition In response to the COVID-19 closures, access to Ancestry Library Edition has been temporarily expanded to Beaufort County Library cardholders working remotely, courtesy of ProQuest and its partner Ancestry. This home access will be available until the end of April and will be re-evaluated monthly as needed. How to Access Access to Library Edition requires a password. March 19, 2020 Library System To Offer Temporary Library Cards to All Beaufort County Residents During COVID-19 Closures No library card? No problem. In response to the COVID-19 closures, the Beaufort County Library system is offering all Beaufort County residents the opportunity to receive a 30-day temporary library card so that they can enjoy all of the digital resources available through the library system, such as downloadable audiobooks, eBooks, music, and popular digital magazines through services such as Hoopla Digital, the cloudLibrary, and Flipster. All content in Hoopla Digital is available instantly, with no wait lists. Flipster offers over 50 popular magazines including People

Increase in Hoopla Borrows

Good news! To help our customers enjoy as much content as possible during our temporary closure, we are happy to announce that we are temporarily increasing the amount of Hoopla borrows from 6 borrows per month to 8 per month. This change is now in effect. Remember, there are no wait lists in Hoopla - so if you see something you like, you can borrow it instantly with no waiting.


Please note that library system staff are available via the Contact Us form. UPDATE June 2020: No library branch facilities will be open to the public until Monday, 15 June, 2020 to allow for COVID-19 safety protocols to be put in place for both library staff and the public. These protocols include moving furniture and computers to allow for appropriate social distancing, providing sneeze guards at service points, installing appropriate signage, receiving the cleaning supplies and training library staff. Bookmobile Services Suspension

Friday, March 13: In accordance with the current health emergency, the Beaufort County Library system will suspend all bookmobile service and library outreach activities for two weeks starting Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 27. The two week suspension may be extended for additional weeks if deemed necessary. Bookmobile patrons will not be charged fines during this time frame. We value providing bookmobile and outreach services to the community. Please stay tuned to the website for updates as to when these services will resume. At this time all other library services will operate as normal.
