Free, Local Tax Assistance
January 2025: The Beaufort County Library is pleased to continue the long-standing tradition of hosting free tax preparation assistance to Beaufort County citizens provided by Lowcountry Area VITA and AARP Tax-Aide Foundation.
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)
In collaboration with the Beaufort County Human Services Alliance, and United Way of the Lowcountry, Inc., the Lowcountry Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program offers FREE tax help to people who need assistance in preparing their tax returns in Beaufort, Jasper, Colleton, and Bamberg counties, including:

Individuals and families earning less than $67,000 annually

Individuals with disabilities

Non-English speaking taxpayers

Individuals 60 years of age and older
