Beaufort County Library Celebrates National Library Week
Connect with the Beaufort County Library during National Library Week, April 3 - 9
(Beaufort, SC) – National Library Week (April 3 - 9, 2022), is a time to highlight the essential role libraries and library workers play in transforming lives and strengthening communities.
The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “Connect with Your Library,” which promotes the idea that libraries are creative and engaging community centers where people can connect to print and digital media, WiFi and technology, and a variety of classes. Most importantly, libraries also connect communities to each other.
This National Library Week, the public can connect to the Beaufort County Library by visiting library locations in person or online to explore and access services and attend one of the following special library events:
Beaufort Human Library, Sunday, April 3 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm at the Beaufort Branch Library (311 Scott Street). This free public event is in collaboration with Pat Conroy Literary Center, Beaufort High School’s Diversity Awareness Youth Literacy Organization, and community volunteers. The event’s “books” will be Beaufort community members from diverse backgrounds and experiences available to be “checked out” for conversations with “readers” to foster empathy and invite greater understanding of the many human stories to be found and shared in our communities.
Pat Conroy Literacy Center presents “I was Born to Be in a Library: Pat Conroy’s Great Love of Libraries” lecture on Monday, April 4 at 2:00pm at the Hilton Head Branch Library, Tuesday, April 5 at 4:30pm at the Bluffton Branch Library, and Wednesday, April 6 at 4:30pm at the Beaufort Branch Library. This presentation utilizes video, audio, photographs as well as published and unpublished writings to welcome attendees into the book-filled world of one of America’s most beloved writers.
Citizens can learn all about composting from Beaufort County Recycling coordinator’s “Composting 101” presentation on Tuesday, April 5 at 10:00am at the Beaufort Branch Library and Wednesday, April 6 at 4:30pm at the Lobeco Branch Library.
