Stephen King’s Fairy Tale is a sweeping, imaginative novel that begins in the real world and soon crosses into a dark, dreamlike realm inspired by classic fairy tales—only with King’s signature blend of otherworldly weirdness and creeping horror. The story follows seventeen-year-old Charlie Reade, who forms an unexpected and deeply meaningful bond with his reclusive elderly neighbor, Mr. Bowditch, and the man’s loyal dog, Radar. Their relationship—marked by trust, responsibility, and a quiet emotional warmth—anchors the entire novel. As Charlie cares for Mr. Bowditch and grows devoted to Radar, he becomes drawn into a hidden world beneath their feet, one filled with ancient curses, crumbling kingdoms, and familiar fairy-tale echoes twisted into something darker and more uncanny.
First book of a trilogy that is the ultimate mash-up of fairy tale re-rights. Hope you like puns and strange and wonderous journeys.

In the heart of Tokyo is a pawn shop that trades choices instead of items, and the shop has been robbed and the owner is missing. Told through multiple perspectives, this is a fantasy story which explores the themes of regret, trust, and consequences of choices.
Legends and Lattes

Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree is one of the coziest fantasy books I have ever read! It follows Viv, an orc who has only ever known battle and bloodshed, as she travels to a new town to officially settle down and open a coffee shop. If only new beginnings were that easy...

Truly like nothing I've read before! The story begins with the Diviners, a group of girls who receive visions from the "Omens". People travel from faraway to hear their futures told. When the Diviners begin disappearing, one of them becomes determined to solve the mystery with the help of a few knights and one very loyal and hilarious gargoyle.

Shield of Sparrows
by Devney Perry
Recommended by Katharine McKean,
Branch Manager
This is a great read that was enjoyed by all the members in my family including those who enjoy light romantasies, the more serious literature readers, and even my 89 year old mother. Great character development with complex motivations and themes. The only downside? The first book in a new series and the second book doesn't come out until next year. Nominated for Goodreads Choice Award of 2025, "Shield of Sparrows is a slow-burn, high-stakes romantasy perfect for fans of Sarah J. Maas and Rebecca Yarros―where enemies become lovers, monsters stalk a cursed realm, and a forgotten princess finds the strength to tear off her crown and become the warrior she was never meant to be." It is currently being developed into a feature film by Amazon MGM Studios.
Kill the Beast

I love a high stakes fantasy as much as the next person, but Kill the Beast was a nice break from that. It was a really fun and cozy read, and it's definitely one that I would recommend!
