Library Ready to Launch Summer Reading Program

The Beaufort County Library team is gearing up for another fun Summer Reading season. Children of all ages, teens, and adults can register for the program beginning Monday, June 5 at any of the Library’s locations, including the Library’s new Bookmobile. The program’s premise is simple -- participants read books to win prizes. Participants choose what they want to read, and points are issued along the way. In addition to the reading component, participants can attend events built upon this year’s theme, “Build a Better World.” Teens, children, and families can participate in events centered on building structures, miniature cars, space crafts, and LEGOs. Bookmobile Ribbon-Cutting

It's official! Members of County Council, County Administration, the Library Director, and Library Board of Trustee Members celebrated the unveiling of the Beaufort County Library system’s new Bookmobile yesterday at the Bluffton Branch Library. The Bookmobile will visit the branches of the Library system next week, we hope to see you there!

Library Bookmobile Ribbon Cutting and Launch

Get a first look at the Beaufort County Library Bookmobile The Beaufort County Library system is holding a ribbon-cutting to celebrate the launch of its brand new Bookmobile. The community is invited to attend the event celebrating this momentous occasion. The ribbon-cutting will be held on May 22 at 1:00pm at the Bluffton Branch Library, 120 Palmetto Way, Bluffton, SC 29910. Bookmobile staff will be available to answer questions and attendees can tour the new Bookmobile from 2:00pm-5:00pm. The Bookmobile will bring popular books, audiobooks, and DVDs to more than 40 scheduled stops across Beaufort County. “Be Free Or Die” Book Talk and “SC’s Liberty Trail”

The Beaufort District Collection (BDC) offers local history programs about the Revolutionary War and native son and hero, Robert Smalls, during June. “Be Free or Die” Author Reading Book talk, sale and signing with author Cate Lineberry whose latest book recounts the amazing story of Robert Smalls’s escape from slavery. The Beaufort County Library is proud to announce its fifth online collection in partnership with the Lowcountry Digital Library during National Postcard Week, May 7 – 13, 2017. The Russell J. Arnsberger Postcard Collection includes over 350 postcards of houses, businesses, public buildings, street views, military base activities and structures in and around Beaufort, South Carolina. Some built structures pictured are no longer extant or have been greatly altered. Among the publishers represented in this collection of 20th century postcards are Albertype Company, Dexter Press, Charles G. Luther’s Pharmacy, the Crescent Drug Company, W.R. Beaufort Branch Library to close for one week for new carpet installation

The Beaufort Branch of the Beaufort County Library system will be closed from Friday, May 12 through Saturday, May 20 for new carpet installation. The branch will reopen to the public on Monday, May 22. The Beaufort District Collection, the Library’s special local history and archives unit located on the 2nd floor of the library, will remain open during this time period. The branch will continue to receive books through the book return and library members will be able to pick up their reserved books (“holds”) in the front lobby from Monday, May 15 through Friday, May 19 from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
