February 12th is rather busy day if you're interested in increasing your knowledge of local history and/or African American genealogy. It's impossible to attend both the book review presentation and the genealogy workshop so you will have to pick the topic (and location) that best suits your needs! Both are free.
1) BDC@ Bluffton Branch History Book Club
Time: 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM

BDC Manager, Grace Cordial, leads the discussion of Gullah Statesman: Robert Smalls from Slavery to Congress, 1839-1915 by Edward A. Miller. She will share some of the special collections materials from the BDC with participants during the presentation. Sign up to find yourself - or your ancestors – for the final session of the 1940 US Census workshop. Basic computer skills are helpful. Limit of 10 people. Free; Anyone over age 12 interested in learning the ins-and-outs of using 1940 census data to compile a family history is welcomed to attend but registration is necessary.
