Internet Safety Web Sites

  • Disney Online: CyberNetiquette Comix (http://disney.go.com/cybersafety)
    An entertaining approach to the serious business of online safety, including the dangers of communicating with strangers and unsolicited e-mail.
  • GetNetWise (http://www.getnetwise.org) Information on what parents and kids can do to use the Net safely, with specific steps on dealing with (and reporting) trouble and links to other useful online resources.
  • SafeKids.com (http://www.safekids.com) and SafeTeens.com (http://www.safeteens.com/) (Strategies include an eight-point plan for Net safety, parental guidelines and instructions for a family contract of Internet use.
  • WWK: Web Wise Kids (http://www.webwisekids.com) Check out the "Kid's Rules for Online Safety" and other advice on avoiding Internet dangers.
  • Yahooligans! Parents' Guide: Safe Surfing with Your Family (http://www.yahooligans.com/parents) Surfing can be a family sport, with ground rules like a signed Family Pledge (a sample is provided for each family to adapt to its own needs). There is also advice on what to do when parents or children find inappropriate material on the Web.
