Hillary
S. Barnwell
1952 - 2007
You
may never have met Hillary
Barnwell. But you can see her 26 years of hard work
in every brick of our five library branches. The librarys
fine resources reflect our Assistant Directors love for
learning and for all the people who came to read and
be read to. Hers was A Wonderful Life, cut short on November
14. As in the movie, it is hard to imagine what our community
would be, but for Hillary.

FOR
BOOK LOVERS
BOOKS SANDWICHED IN will kickoff its 2008 season on Monday,
January 7th. Once again, we have an exceptional lineup of speakers
who will review a book of their choice. This Friends of the Library
program aims to educate, enlighten, and entertain. This will be our
22nd year of offering book reviews every Monday in January and February.
Our BIG news
this year is that we will be in a new location Sea Island
Presbyterian Church located at
81 Ladys Island Drive on Ladys Island. We are also
changing the time. The program will be from 1pm to 2pm and everyone
is encouraged to come early to enjoy complimentary refreshments (sandwiches,
cookies, coffee, and tea) with other enthusiasts. There is no charge
for the program but donations are gratefully accepted. Click here
for our exciting line-up
of presenters and books.

From the President
Our most exciting news
since the September newsletter is that we set an all-time sales
record at our Fall
Book Sale. We cannot thank the community enough for your
generous support in shopping at the book sale as well as donating
the books all year long.
Books
Sandwiched In will kick off on January 7th at 1pm at
the Sea Island Presbyterian Church. We hope to see all our loyal
attendees back even though we have moved to a different location
and time. When you arrive, be sure to renew your membership for
the Friends organization if you have not already done so.
On a somber note, we
say farewell to our good friend and library liaison, Hillary
Barnwell, who succumbed after a long and courageous fight
against cancer. We will never forget her upbeat spirit, devotion
to the library, or performance as Darth Vader in the Library skit
for one of the Volunteer Appreciation evenings. She was a FORCE!
RegardsMarilyn Harcharik/President
