1st South Carolina Volunteers Encampment with Beaufort History Museum

The Beaufort History Museum presents historian and 54th Massachusetts Regiment re-enactor Joseph McGill and other re-enactors, who will create an encampment as the First South Carolina Volunteers, the first officially recognized unit of the United States Colored Troops. The encampment will be held in the Naval Hospital Park, off Ribaut Road in Port Royal, very near to the unit's original camp site of 150 years ago. The event is free.
