Beaufort County Historical Society
The Beaufort County Historical Society is the oldest association in Beaufort county dedicated to the study and preservation of history. A member based organization, the society was established in 1939. As stated in our constitution: The purpose of this society shall be for the collection and dissemination of accurate historical data with particular emphasis on those of Beaufort County, the proper marking and preserving of its historic sites and the study of history in general.

Bluffton Historical Preservation Society
The Bluffton Historical Preservation Society was established, in 1981 to protect, preserve and promote the cultural heritage and history of St. Luke’s Parish (est. 1767) through education, marketing, hands-on preservation of buildings and sites, maintenance of an historical archive and operation of the Heyward House Historic Center. In 1998, the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society purchased the Heyward House. Their Caldwell Archive is one of the largest collections of archival resource materials in the state.
