There are so many ways to search for jobs but where do you start? Our current economic challenges coupled with Beaufort County’s growing 9.1 % jobless rate indicate that many in our community are looking for answers and strategies to build success. According to the South Carolina Employment Commission, some parts of Beaufort County have unemployment rates of over 17 percent; the good news is that the Beaufort County Library is here to help. With knowledgeable staff, thousands of resources, convenient hours and five locations throughout the county, WorkStarts @ the Beaufort County Library is an excellent starting point in your search for employment.

Internet and Computer Workstations: Sign up for a library card to use our Internet computers free of charge or bring your own laptop to browse the Internet through our Wi-Fi connection. We also offer instructional computer classes on a wide range of topics both for novice and more experienced computer users.
Web Directory of Helpful Websites: Find librarian selected links for job, career, and small business websites hosted on the WorkStarts page of the Beaufort County Library’s website.
Books and More: Browse classified ads in regional newspapers, check out small business start up manuals such as How to Make Big Money with your own Small Business and gather successful interviewing tips from DVDs like Get That Job.
You can even access online databases such as Regional Business News and Reference USA to find valuable information about companies. You can use these databases from the comfort of your own home by going to the library's web page at www.beaufortcountylibrary.org and logging in with passwords provided by our reference staff.
