Journal on Exhibit

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the University of South Carolina Beaufort, the Beaufort County Library has temporarily loaned the Journal of the Proceedings of the Trustees of the College of Beaufort From their first Incorporation in 1795 [to 1868] for a display in their South Campus Library. The bound manuscript was placed on exhibit March 3rd. It will remain on display in the South Campus Library until April 5th. The Journal of the Proceedings contains minutes of the Trustees irregular meetings. Drop by and take a look at the original if you have a chance.

To better protect the original manuscript from harm caused by light, pests, humidity, temperature, or excess handling, the document was microfilmed. If you are interested in doing some research in the Journal, visit our Beaufort Branch or Hilton Head Island Branch libraries. Both branch libraries contain copies of the microfilm of the Journal of the Proceedings. A Reference Librarian on staff will be happy to show you the microfilm and instruct you in how to operate the microfilm reader/printers.
