Local historian Chris Clayton will share his research about the unsuccessful Union attempt of October 22, 1862 to wrest control of the Savannah-Charleston Railroad line from the Confederates. The program will be held in the Colcock-Teel House, 46 Colcock Street in Bluffton. $3.00 suggested donation. Information: 757-6293;

Courtesy of Penn Center, the St Helena Branch Library will host the Bostick Mini Quilt Display from October 1st-31st.  These quilts are examples of the quilts used during the Underground Railroad that provided messages for Harriet Tubman who was traveling in the region to take escaped slaves safely to the North.  Dr.
