Borrowing Materials
How to Get Your Beaufort County Library Borrower's Card:
- Library Borrower's Cards are free to all Beaufort County residents ages 4 and up. (A parent or legal guardian is required to sign for children who are 4-14 years old.)
- May be obtained at any branch library location upon verification of name and address.
- May be used at all Beaufort County Public Library locations (and subject to each library's policy at the University of South Carolina at Beaufort Library and the Technical College of the Lowcountry Learning Resources Center ).
Non Resident Cards:
- Non Resident cards are available for $50.00 per year to people who do not live or own property in Beaufort County and are not students at the Technical College of the Lowcountry or USC Beaufort.
- We also offer a 3-Week Visitor Card for $15.00. Visitors' cards do not require a 2-week waiting period for verification. No online database resources are available with this card, and there is a limit of 5 items checked out at any one time.
- Non Residents complete the same registration form as residents (use your Beaufort County address as your primary address and list your permanent address as your secondary address on the application). Proof of address is required for your permanent address.
Loan Periods:
- Most material is checked out for three weeks.
- NEW BOOKS, VIDEOS, DVDs,SCIENCE PROJECT BOOKS, HOLIDAY BOOKS and other special reserve books are checked out for two weeks.
The following limits apply:
- NEW BOOKS: Total of 8 new books per borrower card.
- AUDIO BOOKS (on audiocassette or CD): 5 total items per card.
- VIDEOS / DVDs: 5 total items per card.
